Keep Them Coming

One of the best things about having a blog is the wonderful comments and recommendations I get from regular readers. One of the best parts of my day is opening up my email and finding comments left on my blog. It still gives me such a thrill.

This week I have been following up on a couple of suggestions from fellow bloggers and it has been well worth the effort.

First up Lou from Totally Innocent was astounded to find out that I had never experienced the joy that is 'Stand By Me'.

She had watched it with her boys recently and told me I just had to see it. A couple of days later I stumbled across it in K-Mart for $8.00 and knew I had to get it. That was a couple of weeks ago I it was only last night that I finally got around to watching it.

Well Lou, you'll be pleased to know that I loved it. I found it an absolutely delightful movie and can see why it enjoys such 'classic' status. The performances were spot on and it was a very poignant tale told with grace and humour. It's now on my 'must see' list for anyone else who is yet to see it.

Last night I received a message from Whitney in America who had been looking at my book list and wanted to know if I had read 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyer. This is part of the message she left me....

"I was reading your list of books you have read and what you are reading and I have to say YOU NEED TO READ Twilight http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html It is right up your alley. It is a teen romance . It is one of those that make you want to have that giddy, just met the perfect boy, does he notice me, should I drive by his house feeling again."

Needless to say after that introduction I literally rushed to the Sun Bookshop to see if Deb could get it in for me. Just my luck, a shipment was arriving that afternoon and she promised to call me as soon as it arrived. Apparently she is just as big a fan as Whitney and can't believe I haven't experienced the joy. At 5.45 my phone rang with the good news and I now have books 1 and 2 of the Twilight series in my hot little hands. Stay tuned for my review.... I can't wait.

Rehab

Disneyland Resort Parijs maakt zich stilaan weer op voor het drukke zomerseizoen. Momenteel is men bezig met werken aan de brug van het kasteel. Er werden stellingen geplaatst en de werken gebeuren achter doeken en omheiningen.

High School Musical

High School Musical zet zijn veroveringstocht verder : na het succes in de Amerikaanse parken, was het beurt aan Disneyland Resort Parijs. Vanaf 7 maart kunnen de gasten van Hong Kong Disneyland genieten van dit live-evenement. High School Musical zal dagelijks te zien zijn in Main Street USA en samen met de cast zullen de gasten zeker meezingen met de hits uit deze populaire film (o.a. What Time is it ?).

De komst van High School Musical is slechts één van de nieuwe elementen die een bezoek aan Hong Kong Disneyland vanaf de lente 2008 nog meer de moeite waard zullen maken. We hadden het al eerder over de komst van de Muppet Mobile Lab, the Art of Animation en de Nemo Submarine Turtle Talk. Natuurlijk staat deze lente ook de opening van It’s a Small World op het programma in Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian

Vele Narniafans kijken al vol spanning uit naar de volgende film The Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian. We gunden jullie al een blik op de concepts-arts en hier kon je filmpjes bekijken van de opnames in Bovec. Als Sinterklaasgeschenk konden jullie de trailer bekijken en begin deze maand stond de Superbowl-trailer op Yago’s Disney Nieuws.

Nu kreeg Yago’s Disney Nieuws via mail een aantal prachtige foto’s binnen van de personages uit de nieuwste Narniafilm The Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian en deze willen we jullie niet onthouden. Deze foto’s tonen de kinderen Pevensie, Trumpkin en natuurlijk Prince Caspian in actie op de set.

Wil de echte Mr. Potato Head nu opstaan ?

Don Rickles, de man die zijn stem verleent aan Mr Potato Head uit Toy Story had op 23 februari een ontmoeting met zijn alter-ego. Hij kan meteen zien Mr. Potato Head er in het audio-animatronics-leven uitziet. Naar het schijnt zou deze Mr Potato Head net zoals in de speelgoed- en filmversie verschillende lichaamsdelen kunnen verwijderen.

Deze zomer opent de attractie Toy Story Mania zowel in Disney's California Adventure als in de Walt Disney World's Disney's Hollywood Studios. Toy Story Mania zal een interactieve attractie zijn waarin elementen van een video-game en 4-D technologie gecombineerd worden. De bezoekers zullen er ook kunnen communiceren met Toy Story characters.

Sacred geometry is geometry used in the design of sacred architecture and sacred art. The basic belief is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportion are also found in music, light, cosmology. This value system is seen as widespread even in prehistory, a cultural universal of the human condition. It is considered foundational to building sacred structures such as temples, mosques, megaliths, monuments and churches; sacred spaces such as altars, temenoi and tabernacles; meeting places such as sacred groves, village greens and holy wells and the creation of religious art, iconography and using ""divine"" proportions. Alternatively, sacred geometry based arts may be ephemeral, such as visualization, sandpainting and medicine wheels.



The discovery of the relationship of geometry and mathematics to music within the Classical Period is attributed to Pythagoras, who found that a string stopped halfway along its length produced an octave, while a ratio of 3/2 produced a fifth interval and 4/3 produced a fourth. Pythagoreans believed that this gave music powers of healing, as it could "harmonize" the out-of-balance body, and this belief has been revived in modern times[1]. Hans Jenny, a physician who pioneered the study of geometric figures formed by wave interactions and named that study cymatics, is often cited in this context. However, Dr. Jenny did not make healing claims for his work.

Even though Hans Jenny did pioneer cymatics in modern times, the study of geometric relationships to wave interaction (sound) obviously has much older roots (Pythagoras). A work that shows ancient peoples understanding of sacred geometry can be found in Scotland. In the Rosslyn Chapel, Tomas J. Mitchell has found what he calls "frozen music". Apparently, there are 213 cubes with different symbols that are believed to have musical significance. After 27 years of study and research, Mitchell has found the correct pitches and tonality that matches each symbol on each cube, revealing harmonic and melodic progressions. He has fully discovered the "frozen music", which he has named the Rosslyn Motet, and is set to have it performed in the chapel on May 18th, 2007, and June 1st, 2007.

What is the "Hudson River Virus" nearly contained in the Mississippi area? I have been hearing alot of buzz about this virus but not much news it seems to evade common sense in popularity right now. Its a big brother 9 thing, its being described as something that happened when Jericho went off the air. The room would suddenly fill with peanuts and was trying to signal all the House guests that the writers strike was over. No one on Big brother got it however.

Blijkbaar was er donderdag iets aan de hand met de Big Thunder Mountain maar op het internet is hier niets van weer te vinden. Wat er gebeurd is, blijft momenteel nog een raadsel. Op de foto zie je hoe iemand wordt verzorgd door de ambulanciers van Disneyland Resort. De attractie werd donderdag na het incident voor de rest van de dag gesloten maar opende vrijdagochtend terug.

Edwin Hendriks kon deze foto maken terwijl men bezig was om iemand te evacueren.

And the winner is …

We hadden het hier al over de genomineerden voor het felbegeerde beeldje uit de filmwereld. Voor de 80ste Oscaruitreiking was ook Disney in verschillende categorieën genomineerd. Vol spanning wachtten we af of Ratatouille, Enchanted en Pirates of the Caribbean : at World’s End een eerste plaats zouden kunnen veroveren. In de categorie Animated Feature Film sleepte Ratatouille de hoofdprijs in de wacht.

Disney's Magical Blu-Ray Tour

In augustus 2007 werd het startschot gegeven voor de Disney's Magical Blu-ray Tour en gezien de overwinning van de Blu-ray op HD werd de tour in 2008 verlengd. Zeven Noord-Amerikaanse steden stonden op het programma voor 2008 en momenteel passeert de tour nog in Nashville, Hurst, Denver en Chicago. Op de geselecteerde locaties kunnen geïnteresseerden terecht van maandag tot en met zondag. Op vrijdagochtend is er telkens een speciale preview voor de pers.

Deze Blu-ray Disc promotiecampagne wordt gepresenteerd door Walt Disney Home Entertainment en gesponsord door Panasonic. Deskundigen van Disney en Panasonic zijn ter beschikking voor het beantwoorden van vragen over alle technische aspecten van de Blu-ray alsook over de inhoud van de Disney Blu-ray Discs.

De bezoekers van de educatieve show kunnen een aantal van Disney’s grootste succesfilms die in 2008 op Blu-ray werden gezet bekijken waaronder Finding Nemo, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Cars, Ratatouille, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
