Scared Weird Little Guys

Tonight Surfer Boy and I are actually going out TOGETHER!  We usually find that these days we end up going to things individually so someone is home with the kids but tonight we get to actually go on a date.
Our lovely (and hilarious) friend Rusty has invited us to see his final show at The Atheaneum Theatre.  Rusty is one half of the 'Scardies' who are performing their final tour after 21 years and four and a half thousand shows together!
Enough Already is their farewell tour and I'm so rapt that we get to see it.

'I'll leave your names at the door'  Who doesn't want to hear that every now and then?

Post Script - We just got home and I can honestly say we have not had that much fun in a long long time.  The boys were in fantastic form and were hilarious.  They will be sorely missed.  You must see them if you can!

KTM 1190 RC8 Superbike Unveiled

Milan premieres continue to roll with the introduction of the KTM 1190 RC8. According to KTM, this lightweight superbike pumps out 155 horsepower and weighs 440 pounds with a full tank of gas. Enjoy these images of the new RC8, and take a look at KTM’s announcement below for more details.

KTM, the leader in the production of sports motorcycles celebrates a milestone in the company history with the world premiere of the first ever “Made in Austria” Superbike, the KTM 1190 RC8 at EICMA, the most important international motorcycle fair.
KTM CEO Stefan Pierer unveiled the 1190 RC8 on Tuesday, November 6 at 13.00 hours to herald a new era in the company history. KTM presented the series version of the most elaborate development project ever undertaken by the company, which is at the same time the most powerful series motorcycle ever developed in Austria.
“The RC8 is the perfect embodiment of the collective know-how and the sporting passion of our development teams. In addition, they have proven that KTM is capable of pushing through its own model strategy and in doing so, being absolutely true to our clear brand philosophy, also on the road,” Pierer commented when introducing the RC8 at the Milan fair.
The world’s leading manufacturer of offroad bikes has already proved itself with its innovations and has also caused a sensation with its outstandingly dynamic factory riders on the road racing circuit. Now KTM takes another crucial step towards having a complete range of unmistakable sports machines.

At the very heart of the 1190 RC8 is the completely newly developed super sporty two-cylinder based on the well known LC8 range of engines, which, with a top performance of 155 hp and a maximum amount of torque of 120 Nm delivers an overwhelming amount of power to the rider. A unique light tubular steel frame, highest quality suspension and brake components and unusual technical solutions such as the exhaust positioned under the bike complete the 1190 RC8, which weighs just 200kg with a full tank. The result is a Superbike that truly lives up to its name in every sense of the word.
With this brand new development, KTM also takes a new direction in the bike’s appearance. The concept of chief designer Gerald Kiska continues the notion o f integrating high quality technology into the bike in a purist and very visible way. As a genuine KTM, the 1190 RC8 also exhibits its pure motor racing genes even from a distance. The new KTM Superbike, available in both colour variations of orange/black and white/black will be available from March 2008, just in time for the start of the new motorcycle season.

Shoei RF-1000 Motorcycle Helmet Review

shoei rf-1000 breakthrough
shoei rf-1000 breakthrough
No one would classify a Shoei helmets cheap motorcycle helmets, but that does not mean you do not care about getting good value for your dollar. Good news about the Shoei helmet you know that you will never lack in the quality. Shoei helmets are some of the best in the industry and better than other brands which many believe can walk on water.
I recently had a chance to road test the Shoei RF-1000 motorcycle helmet and this is what I found. You decide for yourself if the Shoei helmet is right for you.
Shoei is recognized their use Advanced Integrated Matrix build the outer shell is very strong but lightweight helmet produce. The reason is obvious, but like a good helmet, they want to protect your scalp in the event of an accident. Shoei helmets are tested in wind tunnels and therefore they are very angle and is designed to cut the wind well. A quick road test and you can immediately tell that this is a very comfortable motorcycle helmet that has a few flaws and works well.
Another great feature I noticed was that the Shoei RF-1000 is a very comfortable helmet, which is good, because the helmet is a comfortable helmet that you wear. Shoei Sports removable cheek pads and chin strap covers are available in various sizes so you can customize according to your specific needs or likes. This layer is designed to keep air flowing over your head out of the vents in front and then rear exhaust ports. Better airflow in my opinion and Shoei RF1000 does not disappoint.

Finally, you can not go wrong with a Shoei motorcycle helmet. I already have several of them in recent years and I never disappointed and I’m not sure you will direct. RF-1000 high on my list, because it is an all round helmet fits and is very comfortable and natural appeal to the eye. You can also create a better sense of both DOT and Snell-certified, plus other

Caravan Inspiration - O.T.T.

Sometimes someone needs to take you aside and tell you when you've gone too far!
This is a perfect example of this not happening.
Maybe this van looks better from a distance but at the moment it is giving me a sugar rush.

It's Here

The caravan arrived yesterday - Surfer Boy took the day off to go and pick it up and then drove past my shop so I could see it - hilarious.

When I got home from work he had already started working on it - it was absolutely filthy and unfortunately smells rather strongly of dog!  Not my favourite aroma.

The poor girl is in a sorry state but I noticed there were measurements for sheets of ply on the dining table this morning so I'm tipping that by the end of the weekend she will have at least one spanking new panel.    I'll have to make sure I take lots of photos of her transformation.

I have to make a decision as to whether I cover over the current (original but gross and beyond saving) upholstery or if I splurge and get the seats recovered.  I'm leaning towards the latter as I don't think that dog wee smell is ever going to leave if I don't.  I've already removed the hideous curtains and binned them - tempted to make new ones tonight but think I should wait until everything is sparkling again.

So much to do - so fun.  Grab a pair of gloves, some Spray & Wipe and join us for a weekend of scrubbing....

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor was an icon in the truest sense of the word long before she passed away yesterday at the age of 79.

I think this is my favourite photo of Liz - candid, relaxed and relishing the sun on her face.  Perfect.

Shop Love - The Corner Shop

Every morning without fail you will find me breakfasting at The Corner Shop in Yarraville.
In fact you will quite likely find me there at other times of the day as well.
My partner-in-crime (K.J.) and I meet there every day for what we term our morning meeting, of course no actual work is ever done but it does serve to set us up right for the day.
At first we were a little embarrassed at the frequency with which we attend but now we have embraced it and have even been known to frequent the place up to 3 times in one day!

Clare and Iain who own The Corner Shop are very understanding and have even stopped rolling their eyes when we walk in.  The staff have become so used to us that they don't even pretend to serve us anymore - they just place our order in front of us almost before we have sat down - one day we are going to freak them all out and order something completely different.

We both treat it as a pseudo office - my shop is just down the road, K.J. works at The Sun Theatre - and whenever we can swing it we meet up there before work, after work, before and after the movies - so many opportunities...

 Our favourite table

Apart from the fabulous staff (Hi Hannah and Eve!) and owners, the decor is right up my alley.  Clare's interior aesthetic is very similar to mine and we have had many absorbing discussions about furniture, fixtures etc.  Clare and Iain are about to open 2 new ventures which is fabulous and I'm sure they'll have all the style and warmth of The Corner Shop.
