Dream House

It's a glorious day today in Melbourne and I have visions of myself arriving home from work  sitting in a wicker chair on the balcony of this house sipping a mint julep and reading 'The Great Gatsby' while someone lovely packs me a picnic dinner to take down to the lake that I'm sure is just out of shot..... Ahhhh it's relaxing just dreaming about it.

My Favourite House

This is my all time favourite home - it can be found in Stars Hollow Connecticut and is the home of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.
(Yes, I know they're not real but humour me)
I love everything about this house - the verandah, the wisteria, the white trim, the trees and of course the lives that went on behind those double front doors.

Recently I came across a photo of Lorelai's home as it is now - a few years after the final season of Gilmore Girls - and I can't say I am happy about the changes.  I'm happy the house still stands but I think they have stripped it of much of it's charm.  I wonder what TV family will live here next?

Peeping In...

This is the rural retreat of Architect Bob Novogratz  who has made a career of restoring old, run down New York townhouses and creating contemporary urban homes. Bob found this old home in rural Massachusetts and transformed it into a refuge for his family.

I fell in love with the yellow shutters and its' air of shabby graciousness.  You really can't beat this part of the world for a great Autumn display.  Once again the trees are making me very jealous.

Dream House

Camilla at Dreamhouse posted this home on her blog a while ago and I am smitten.  As she points out New England homes usually have dark shutters but I think these look just perfect.  Living in inner city Melbourne I am lusting after all that greenery - hopefully the Birches I planted at our front gate will eventually end up like these.

Drop In And Visit

We are in the grip of a cold snap here in Melbourne so I thought I'd go through my files and show you some of my favourite winter homes.

Drop In And Visit

It has been a while since I have posted a dream house - and although you can't see a lot of this one I think I am more in lust with the lawn than the house.

I think this will be my holiday home when visiting Sweeden. A girl can dream!

Drop In And Visit

We did Little Women for book group this month and discovered this gorgeous home.

This is where Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women and it is the inspiration for the home the March Family lived in! I love finding treasures like this.

Drop In And Visit

My Mum and Dad have just returned from 8 weeks in France, Spain and Portugal - bugger them - and this is the castle gatehouse that they lived in while in the Loire Valley. Bugger them!

Drop In And Visit

I'm starting to think about lighting up my house for Christmas. I love the up-lighting on their second storey.

Drop In And Visit!

My oh my! I'm on the hunt to see if I can find a photo of this home in summer. It is called the Eccles Mansion and it is in Logan, Utah.
CHALLENGE - If anyone can pick up the bizarre Veronica Mars link let me know!

Drop In And Visit

What a shame this home is in Tuscany - although I'm not adverse to moving there for a few years, especially if we get to live here.
I'm sure for many that kitchen would be a nightmare but I think it is an absolute feast for the eye, and I'm sure there are lots of wonderful smells emanating from there as well.

Drop In And Visit

I am re-reading My Anne Of Green Gables series at the moment so my home this week is on the delightful Prince Edward Island in Canada, where Anne called home. It is the only part of the world that I'll be disappointed if I die without seeing.

And while I'm at it I wanted to share my favourite photo of Anne from the fabulous mini-series starring Megan Follows.

Gorgeous!

Drop In And Visit

I'd consider moving to Iowa to live in this Victorian beauty. I don't think I can do the 'no fence' thing though. I'd feel too exposed. My library complete with comfy old leather wing chair would reside in that amazing cuppola... aaah I can see me now.....

Drop In And Visit

This is very appropriately called 'Icing Sugar Cottage'. Considering I have a dread of being cold I seem to be attracted to homes in the snow!
Unfortunately I can't remember where I get my images as I have a huge file of photos that I have collected over the years, so if this photo is yours I apologise.

Drop In And Visit

Anna over at Absolutely Beautiful Things posted about this house during the week and I have not been able to keep my eyes off it. It soothes my soul and has become my latest screen saver so I can gaze all day if I choose.

It's actually for sale at the moment so I might just take a sneaky trip down to Sorrento so I can stroll around the garden and pretend I can afford it!

Want to come?

P.S. Pop over to Kristine's blog and do the quiz...The boys from 'Nothing To Wear?' tell you what style you are. Fascinating.

Drop In And Visit.

I figure if we live here then Moondoggie can't hurt himself if he falls over in the yard ... although he'll probably get frostbite!

This house makes me feel very serene. I'm not usually a fan of winter but I love the blue sky and the white snow, with those gorgoeus stark tree trunks. I'm a huge fan of a white house, I'd paint all houses white if I could. I'd love to see what this house looks like in summer.
