Crochet For Lorelai

When we bought the caravan a girlfriend of mine commented that she would now have to crochet me a rug for it.  Well I don't expect her to actually do it but after seeing some of these pictures I am tempted to get her to re-teach me the fine art of crochet.

Aren't they lovely - I'm thinking that now that the Christmas bunting is done for this year I might have to get into a bit of stick art next Christmas.  Surely it can't be that hard!  Maybe a gumleaf version...

I really, really want to make these for my Halloween decorations this year but I just know I'm not going to get around to it.  Here's the tutorial if anyone else wants to attempt it.  (Feel free to make some for me too!)

Inspired!

I've just stumbled across this photo from CHALK 's old blog and it has almost inspired me to start producing some more.  I absolutely love putting the quilt tops together but I start to lose interest when it comes time to sew them all up.  I must admit that seeing these old designs and matching pillows gets me a little excited and I think I can feel some 'crafting' coming on!

Amy Butler

It is probably not healthy to spend so much time on one website, but Amy Butler's site has so many fabulous photos of her fabrics that I can't stop.  I think it might be time to annoy my favourite fabric shop by asking for samples of all the Amy Butler they have in stock.  One day I will order up big and they will rejoice but for now I only need enough for a quilt square and that does not please them!  30cm off 12 different rolls is a tad irritating I'll admit. 

Suck it up ladies - I want my Amy Butler fix.

Inspired

I've been finishing off a quilt for a customer and it has inspired me to get back to work on the one I was doing for my bed.  So far I have about 5 rows cut out - not much unfortunately but now I'm inspired to pull it out and hunt up some more fabrics.  My aim is to use stuff that I find rather than going out and buying new fabric.  So far I have used offcuts from my CHALK quilts, op-shop finds, Dad's shirts, old bed linen, even a tea towel.  It's not going to get finished any time soon is it?  This photo (via  here) is a little like the vision I have in my head.

Finally The Crafting Bug Has Bitten

While Surfer Boy is out in the shed making me some frames for my new potato garden I thought I'd show you what else I've been up to.

I had been putting off a visit to Spotlight all week as I had to buy some filling for a quilt order and I just wasn't motivated. When I finally made myself go I fell in lust with some fabric and decided my project to redo the cushions on my couch should begin now. I spent the rest of the afternoon throwing out my old covers and making 6 new ones.

I'm pretty happy with the result and more than happy with the $29.00 it cost me. Even Surfer Boy likes them and he usually isn't a fan of couch cushions.

The only problem now is that the cat seems to have taken a major shine to them and is hard to oust from the couch.

2 Quilts and a Wedding

It's been a long time between creative endeavours.

I'm not sure why I'm having a crafting slump. I used to feel the need to create and produce on a daily basis but for some reason in the last few months I have experienced a creative block.

I finally finished Moondoggie's doona cover! ('thank god' I hear you all sigh) Mainly due to the fact that he was in hospital and I wanted to do something for him. (Some good has come out of the broken arms fiasco after all!)

And last week I finally delivered the quilt that I made my brother and sister-in-law as a wedding present.

I had every intention of having it done by their December wedding but with one thing and another, namely the Internet shop didn't deliver my queen sized wadding, I have only just finished it.

I spent ages choosing the fabrics and I don't think I'll do that to myself again - choosing for someone else is fraught with difficulties and is just too stressful. I finally settled on the lovely Amy Butler fabrics - not too girly but still botanical and stylish rather than cottagey.

They tell me they love it so with a bit of luck they are not just being polite.
This post makes it look like I've been productive but really both these projects belong to last year, with only the finishing done in '08. It is pathetic and I need to find my crafting Mojo again. But how??
